Patience Pays
In a world operating as fast as the one we live in, our ability to quickly move from one thing to another is very remarkable. Shiny Object Syndrome exists in nearly everyone and we can’t help but to be drawn to the next great thing that’s right in front of us. If you’re not first, you’re last has become our mantra. Moving quickly has become an art. We give all of this maximum effort but still we feel like we’re going in circles. What if the the way to move forward is to let things play out? It’s not some crazy idea. This is really a path forward.
Think not in terms of the now. Think in terms beyond today. It’s true that our minds want us to do things as quickly as possible. There is a time and place for hustle. Don’t discard that. However, it’s not always the case that hustle gets better results. This is hard for those constantly on the move to accept, that sometimes a slow down is required. Some might think this comes across as lazieness – it’s not. In fact it’s the opposite. Training yourself to have the self discipline to see things unfold is hard, yet for those that do they are more often than not rewarded for this effort.
Practice your patience muscle by doing a mental exercise. If you’re working on yourself and you’re seeing great results moving at a fast pace then there’s no reason to stop. However, if you’re not getting the results you had hoped for it may be the case that you are not giving time to let things happen. So give yourself some time and try this for a while.
Ultimately you must understand that the best things we have were not built in a day’s time. They are the results of careful planning, evaluations, lots of work, and plenty of time. It’s unlikely that you’ll ever get to where you want if you skip any of these steps, however, time is the one that many people think we can do without. We can’t. Practice your patience muscle. So few of us do that we will get ahead by simply doing it. In the end you will not be disappointed. Patience is a lost virtue but one that truly pays.
